Finally, here is a preview of the dresses book! I have 7 remaining zip files to filter through before all 300-ish dresses will be documented!

the dresses are coming!

My mom, Debbie, skillfully acquired a number of circa 1986 prom dresses a few years back, and they are finally making it to their final destination. There are about 300+ prom and wedding dresses that make up this impressive collection. Until this point, the dresses lived in the basement of an office building on matching white plastic hangers from Target. (I know this useless information because she told me that she had bought out 3 of the nearest Targets of their plastic hangers…)

The dresses have been used a couple of times since they were found. One time I remember was when my parents and their friends had a “mom prom”. The girls all got together to primp and curl and apply and dress in the latest fashions of 1988. The guys awaited in complementary attire. I saw the pictures… it was pretty ridiculous and awesome! I will try to get a hold of the pictures to share.

The past week or so has been dedicated to documenting and packaging the dress collection for semi-archiving. Each dress will be housed in a box with a number and will be easy to locate using the photo-book and numbering system. Debbie, Aunt Taffy, Granny, Cookie and her friends have been modeling, picture taking, and packaging like crazy. Soon I will receive the photos so I can compile the reference book.

Like most things in this household, this project has officially crossed the line of ridiculous and taken waaay too seriously. But I think thats why it’s always so much fun.

The only photo I have so far came from Cookie’s phone…
